"Review of the ASG Mk43 Mod 1:

OVERALL: a 3.5/5 out of the box, a 4.5/5 after upgrading. This is a gunnerís gun. If you want an awesome-looking, lightweight LMG with the potential to be a beast, donít mind getting your hands dirty and throwing some cash at it to get it that way, then buy the ASG Mk43. If that scares you, then, I donít know, settle for something else

    PROS:

    - GREAT M60E4 / Mk 43 Mod 1 replica Ė looks the part of a mean LMG. Not another SAW.

    - Lightweight: Compared to other airsoft M60s, easily 40% lighter. If youíre looking for an airsoft M60 that weighs 20 lbs like the real pig does, this is NOT for you. It weighs in at 12.0 lbs unloaded, but will obviously be more when you add bbs (the box mag will hold just under 2 lbs of .20g bbs), stick battery, optic, whatever else you want to throw on the rails.

    - Quick change spring with 2 positions (regular and extra hard?) Ė you can change the spring out in about 10 seconds. Plus, makes the gearbox super-easy to work on.

    - Sturdy adjustable bipod. And youíll want it to put the gun down when needed.

    - Mostly metal body. Iíve seen reviews that claim the body is mainly plastic Ė these are flat-out WRONG. A lot of the body is light aluminum, and the important parts (iron sights, main body, barrel connection point, outer barrel, etc) are thick, hard metal. The plastic parts are the usual suspects (flash hider, feed tray cover, some cosmetic fittings, stock, pistol grip).

    - Workable carry handle: I wouldnít run around with it all day solely carrying it by the carry handle, but it has given me no indication that it will break/bend/whatever.

    - Easily removable, easy to work on, beefy gearbox. You should have no qualms about your ability to work on and upgrade this gearbox (which youíll need to for maximum performance).

    - BOX MAG: Unlike other M60 replicas, sturdily built of all high-impact plastic with metal attachment fittings, wired to the trigger (no battery in the box mag itself), and most importantly, feeds flawlessly. No floppiness like Iíve seen out of other makesí magazines. I wouldnít use it as a hammer, but I also wouldnít worry about bumping it and having it fall to pieces. Holds 4000 BBs. Iíve shot off 15-second bursts (yes, you read that correctly) with no mis-feeds. Truly a beautiful experience.

    - HUGE battery storage area in the stock: I run an 8.4V 5000 mah brick in the stock and thereís still plenty of room left over. Itís nice having the battery in the stock as opposed to way out on the gas tube getting all hard-to-control.

    - LOUD gearbox: Any stealth you managed to create is gone once you open up!

    - GOOD performance once upgraded (more details below)

    - Good warranty service from ASG

    CONS:
    - PROPRIETARY TAPPET PLATE: if it breaks, you have to get an ASG or ARES M60 tappet plate Ė nothing else will work. PLUS: ASG customer service sent me a new one right away. MAD PROPS to them!

    - STOCK COMPRESSION IS BAD (more below)

    - Weak stock motor (more below)

    - Strange hop-up design: uses a grub screw to push down vertically on very soft, pliable piece of
rubber for the nub. Usually, the ďnubĒ winds up getting turned sideways and jamming up the whole thing. Fix below.

    - Box mag positioning: itís realistic for the M60 family, but the left-hung box mag is a little unwieldy for righties. Not too bad, though.

    - No rail on the stock feed tray cover for optics: but you can buy one after-market for $40 (really Ö on a $400 LMG Ö really Ö ?)

    - Itís so much fun to shoot that I can almost see the national debt counter spinning as you unleash a rainstorm of bbs all over the battlefield. Plan to buy stock in the BB manufacturer of your choice.

UPGRADING THE ASG Mk43 INTO A DEATH DEALER:

First rule: the stock compression on this thing is NOT GOOD. Second rule: the stock motor is pretty weak. Third rule: the hop up design is questionable at best.

The good news is that the gearbox is so user-friendly to remove and work on that you can upgrade it yourself and have a nice-performing LMG with not too much sweat off your back. You do have to remove the pistol grip assembly to get the motor out, but thatís just a case of removing a couple push pins and clips. The stock air nozzle does NOT have an o-ring, but is easily remedied with a new MP-5 air nozzle (anything else is too long and will interfere with magazine feeding). With a new air nozzle, the stock spring will get you to around 355 FPS with .20g bbs. I threw in a Madbull M140 spring to get it to 375 FPS in spring position 1 and 405FPS in spring position 2. With that new spring, the stock motor was only pulling about 11-12 RPS. I threw an SHS High-torque motor in there and itís 18-19 RPS now (with an 8.4V battery). Battery efficiency is really pretty high - Iíve easily gone through 7,000 bbs on a single 5000 mah stick with no performance degradation and only swapped it out to make sure I didnít run out in the next event. On the hop-up, I pulled the grub screw and nub out and replaced both with a single, longer grub screw that stays in place 1000% better than the stock design and actually provides consistent hop up. Itís not a DMR, but accurate enough for what you need it to do.

Buy the aftermarket feed tray cover with the rail, than find a lightweight optic to go on it.
    HOLD DOWN TRIGGER.
    PROSPER.
If you can lead a charge at Ballahack with this thing, you know it must be good.

"Alright, so first off I have been reading reviews and doing a grip ton of research on M60 Airsoft guns for months.
I weighed options on A&K v. ASG and I was divided. However I luckily had a buddy that got an A&K M60(short version). So in that case I bought the ASG so we could compare and if one was worse than the other we sell the inferior model.
Needless to say the ASG was supperior.

The part I loved the most about it was the quick change spring. I do outdoor big field play along with CQC. The CQC place I go allows SAW's/HMG(whether or not you want to be specific on the M60). So I switch springs every time I go. 400fps and 350fps.

It's good to say that the gun has a pretty easy hop up and the motor did not die on me like the other reviews say. I have played with it 3 months now and used it almost all day every time every weekend.

I'm not going to lie, the gun is plastic in most areas but the quality is very good. I took video with a 11.1v LiPo and slowed down the video for rate of fire. In one second it shot 20 rounds.

I have not upgraded this gun in any way, it's still being used as out of the box. Over all very good gun.

    Pros:
    -Fast RPS
    -Quick Change Spring
-Pretty loud (It's a big gun so... Good)
    -4000 rounds!!!w/connector to battery
-easy hop up(came with Alen Key it needs)
-dropped it twice on rocks, still works.

    Cons:
-Not full metal (even though, it still has ware on your body)
-Seems like results vary some times.
