This is a nice piece of equipment. There is a slab at the top that slides into a slit right below the top rail to lock in place. Also, there is a set screw at the bottom of the flash hider which tightens it to the thread 'adapter'. Additionally, there is a 'ring' the protrudes and fits snug into the front rail system. It's all metal and it really adds an intimidating and aggressive look to any M4 and M16. Well, almost any M4 and M16...
Which is why I didn't give this the highest rating. I have a King Arms Shorty that I bought this for. Like I mentioned, there is a slab at the top that slides into a slit right below the top rail to lock in place and there is a 'ring' the protrudes and fits snug into the front rail system. Well....none of those nice features fit. So, my King Arms M4 was not compatible with this.
SOOO....I did some customizing. I cut the slab and filed the 'ring' down so it would fit. I relied only on the bottom set screw. This didn't cut it though as it continually slipped out of place and my flash hider would turn sideways on my gun due to a lack of fastening. So what I did is I drilled a small, shallow hole in the adapter (after making sure the adapter was tightly fitted). This way, when I screwed the set screw in, it would continue into the hole I drilled and it locks the entire flash hider in place.
So, hopefully your M4 or M16 will be completely compatible with this flash hider. If not...have fun!
