The shell is technically a big one shot gas gun that holds a large amount of bbs*. There are many different shells out there, some holds 6mm airsoft bb from 24 bbs up to 204 bbs, some holds nerf rockets and foam heads. Imagine launching 204 bbs at your opponent with a loud BOOM! sound! They are harmless with less power than an AEG, but you get a lot of bbs traveling out of the shell ALL AT ONCE.
