"someone needs to get on the quality control with these mags, I love the look of them and they are great when they work but I bought 3 of them and 2 leaked straight out of the box, not from the valve like most gbb mags but out of the side of the body due to the 3 piece body design. I don't mind working on things like this and solving the problem myself because its usually just a loose screw but it would of been nice having 3 more functional mags to play with this weekend. feels great in your hand though.
Pros: Heavy duty design, gas efficiency, capacity (for a GBBR)
Cons: Some can leak
I bought a couple more of these mags for my G&P WOC challenge kit. Compared to the G&P PMAG I bought in October 2013, these new ones no longer have the Magpul PMAG30 PTS Simulation trades on the body and floorplate. I didn't notice that on the product page but Evike does have the correct pictures. As far as functionality, one of the mags leaked right out of the box when filled. The body of these mags is a 3-piece design that is held on by a long screw that goes in from the bottom. There is an o-ring in-between each section. Having experience with these mags before I took the leaky mag apart and tried lubing the o-rings but that didn't work. I then started swapping body sections with the other new mag and found that when I swapped the middle section between both new mags, the previously leaky mag was barely leaking but only if I bent the mag with my hands instead of just sitting there. When taking both mags apart, I noticed that the good mag took extra effort to undo the screw compared to the leaky mag. I wasn't able to get the torque needed with just a flathead screw driver so I resorted to using a ratchet with a 1/4" socket and then using a screw driver bit to tighten the magazine body screw. I'm not sure if it was the mag body section swap or the tightening the screw down more that fixed the leak, or if it was a combination of both but I was able to get it to be leak free. Because of the slightly leaky mag right out of the box I'm going to deduct 1 star. Overall these are good mags. The weight is realistic compared to a loaded real steel mag. The design is good where the floor plate protects the fill valve. They are efficient: on slow controlled fire I can get 120rds out of one fill. Doing 2 or 3 rds bursts in SEMI at 1 second intervals I can get 80 to 90rds out of one fill. Also, the 39 rds is pretty good for a GBBR.
"I have an King Arms M4 CQB and was so disappointed with the 50rds mag that comes with the rifle, I also tried an G&P 50rds mag and had the same issue, the leaking, so after a few researches I decided to buy the G&P 39rds PTS Magpul mag and now I am pretty convinced that this is the top of theine on GBB mags. I just test it today and I was able to shoot 3 full magazines plus a few more shots with just one refill of gas on propane for a total around 120 bb's without refill it again. I do recommend this magazine, also Im planning to buy a few more.
