!!!SAVE OUR HOBBY! JOIN THE FIGHT AGAINST CA BILL SB798!!!
Our airsoft sport and hobby is once again under attack from those who seek to deprive us of our rights under the false pretense of public safety. California Senate Bill 798 (SB798) by California State Senator Kevin De Leon (22nd CA Senate District) would require all “BB guns” and imitation firearms to be brightly colored or constructed of clear or translucent materials. Furthermore, coloring airsoft and airguns the same color as you would a NERF or similar TOY gun may cause parents to underestimate the potential dangers of said airsoft and airguns. This may lead to lax supervision and can result in more injuries due to unsupervised use of airsoft and airguns. The author(s) of this bill have no basic understanding of the differences between airsoft guns, airguns, imitation firearms, and toy guns. This bill was written on unfounded statistics and overall ignorance. Now is the time to take action to save our sport, our hobby, and a very valuable training tool for working professionals. Please take this time to write to the bill author and your local California Senator and Assemblyman. We MUST stop this bill from becoming law. If we ALLOW this bill to pass, much more than the color of our airsoft guns will be at stake. Do Not Hesitate! ACT NOW! Please take this time to write to the bill author and your local California Senator and Assemblyman by signing and sending in the letter included with this flyer.

    FAQ

  • Airsoft guns are NOT toys. They should be not be sold to minors as toys. We already have a law in place that stated this. Asking for them to be treated like toys is hazardous for the hobbyists, law enforcement and the people.
  • Coloring airsoft guns in bright colors will make the community VERY DANGEROUS. The bill quoted an unfortunate incident that happened at 7:50pm December 2010. The "motion to draw" is what made the police shoot. There have been cases where people have been shot holding squirt-guns and water hoses, in which police open fired upon them based on the motion to draw rather than what was in their hand.
  • Real fire-arm, replica fire-arm and toys, will always be what they are regardless of the paint on it.
  • Majority of Airsoft Guns that enter the United States enter through ports in Californa. Should SB 798 pass, there is a strong possibility that most airsoft guns in the US will become brightly colored due to SB 798.
  • Airsoft guns are sold strictly to adults over the age of 18. If a mother of a 13 year old lets her son borrow her car, we need to ban cars? The quoted incident in the bill is clearly a parenting issue. Bad parenting is to blame, not Airsoft, black paint, bannas or cell phones.
  • The 13 year old in the quoted incident, is 6 feet tall, 200 lbs and refused to obey law enforcement in the dark.
  • SB 798 will accomplish nothing but "spend more of our tax money." - Not only spend it, but it would destroy a huge source of tax revenue for the state. California heavily taxes airsoft guns. Gun enthusiasts are only interested in the sport due to their interests in military simulation. Brightly coloring these airsoft guns will destroy this interest, and ultimately, destroy an industry that funds the state of California with tax revenue and employs hundreds of people throughout the state. We're suffering from a defecit already, and this bill threatens to make it even worse.

  • Painting replicas orange or pink will not stop bad parenting and stupidity!!

  • What can you, as an Airsofter, do to help?

Remind other Airsofters about Airsoft safety, respect and responsibilities.
Show the law makers what Airsoft is all about! Airsoft Mil-Sim and Reenactment gaming are build upon the virtue of safety, honor, respect and integrity.
By quoting wikipedia in the bill, we are clear that this proposed bill is a result of lack of communication and understanding of the sport of Airsoft.
Airsoft is becoming one of today's most popular sport enjoyed by millions of us and Airsoft guns aren't toys sold to minors.

    1) Spread the words to every PD and friends of PD about the "Cop killer bill". It is clear to anyone with the right mind that "pink" does not distinguish "real" or "replica".
    2) Call the numbers below and your local representative and let them know what you know about Airsoft and your thoughts on SB 798.
